This brings us to omegle.com. Why? Well the random nature of the conversations possible on a site with a tag like "Talk to Strangers!" offers an interesting way to experiment with what we want out of online conversation. While the site claims--"Omegle is a great way of meeting new friends"--is it? Is that even what we are looking for?
You're now chatting with a random stranger. Say hi!

As a bit of a disclaimer, we had four or five conversations before this one where the topic was simply whether or not we were a girl and whether or not we were interested in men. Still, when answering the question--"Was this conversation worthwhile?"--I don't think we lied. One of the great opportunities of the internet is the access it provides individuals to other individuals all over the globe: from Michigan to Sweden. Somehow though, I spend far more time talking to people I know online--from email to facebook--than to anyone else. In better using the opportunities the internet provides, expanding individuals interactions beyond their own circle of friends is good.
